"I didn't have any signs of PPD this time and I'm certain it was mostly due to taking my placenta pills! They also seemed to help when I had a slight drop in my milk supply! If I have another child, I would for sure get my placenta encapsulated again!"-S.W. |
"I couldn't have been more pleased. Allegra takes great pride and respect of her craft, adoring the precious organ that cared for our baby then creating a product from it that will continue to care for my son and I for months to come. I highly recommend this practice as well as the services provided by Allegra and Posh Placenta." -T.W. |

Placenta Consumption Recommendations
Capsule Recommendations:
Take 2 capsules up to 3 times a day for the first 2 to 3 weeks, or until strength has been restored. Raw, with the pink ribbon, will be much stronger, and steamed, with the purple ribbon, will be milder. Continue to take as needed, adjusting the dose based on your body's response. If you find it too stimulating, reduce the dose and do not take in the afternoon or evening. Discontinue use if pregnancy occurs. Keep frozen or in a cool, dry place (not in the refrigerator) and try to use all of the capsules within about 1 year; freeze for longer term storage. If taken with other medications and supplements, undesired side effects may occur; discontinue use until they subside and reintroduce at your discretion. If capsules develop an "off" smell (like rotten meat), it is advised not to take them. Leftover capsules can be tinctured or made into a keepsake.
Tincture Recommendations:
Your tincture will be ready for use in 6 weeks; swirl the bottle daily and store in a cabinet. When capsules are gone, you can begin using your tincture when needed, and may be used during times of stress, transition, or menopause. If you prefer not to consume the alcohol, simply put one or two drops into very hot liquid so that the alcohol evaporates and drink. This method is great for teething pain, stress, and even menses for the child. You may continue refilling the tincture with alcohol of choice (80 proof or higher) but the placenta must be covered in 1 inch of liquid at all times. If a foul odor develops or pregnancy occurs, discontinue use.
Smoothie Drop Recommendations:
Your smoothie drops are pre-portioned and ready to drop in the smoothie or dish of your choice. They can be quite potent, so it is recommended to consume one in the morning with a meal and plenty of fluids. Consume as needed, adjusting the dose based on your body's response. If you find it too stimulating, reduce the dose and do not take in the afternoon or evening. Discontinue use if pregnancy occurs. Keep frozen and try to consume all of the drops within 6 months for best results. If taken with other medications and supplements, undesired side effects may occur; discontinue use until they subside and reintroduce at your discretion. If drops develop an "off" smell (like rotten meat), it is advised not to take them. After 6 months, leftover drops can be consumed at your discretion, but will begin to lose hormonal value and may go bad. They can be encapsulated, tinctured, or made into a serum if they are still consumable.
These recommendations are anecdotal and have not been evaluated by the FDA; they are not to be used as a prescription or medical advice.
